- Drainage is one of the key elements of successful container gardening. Plants need water, but too much of it can cause them to rot. To avoid that, ensure your pots have drain holes on the bottom, so the excess water can drain.
- Every now and then you will need to re-plant your flowers or herbs. Changing their potting mix or soil will provide them with fresh nutrients, helping their growth and development. There are two ways to solve this issue – you can seal the inner side of the pot with a waterproof concrete sealant or you can water your plants more often. Large concrete containers can be quite heavy. Once they’re filled with soil they can be difficult to move around, so make sure you find their perfect spot before planting in them. This applies for bigger size containers that are usually used outdoors – the ones meant to be used inside are usually small or medium-sized and can be easily relocated.
